This tour combines the ancient with the modern also introducing you to what we locals call “new” landmarks dating back to the establishment of Athens as the capital of the Greek independent state in 1834.

-Sacred rock of the Acropolis, where you can admire these architectural treasures dating from the 5th century B.C.:
The Parthenon, The Erechteion, The Propylea, the temple of Nike Apteros,The Herod Atticus Theatre

Hadrian’s Arch:
This triumphal arch was built by the Roman emperor Hadrian. It is located on the grounds of the temple of Olympian Zeus and leads from the old city to the new one.

The tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Syntagma Square: You can see the changing of the Evzones guards who stand in defence to the fallen soldiers in service of the nation

Monastiraki Square-Lively Monastiraki is known for iconic landmarks including the ruins of Hadrian’s Library, the Ancient Agora and the rebuilt Stoa of Attalos, with a museum exhibiting Athenian artifacts. Monastiraki Flea Market is a jumble of shops selling artisanal soaps, handmade sandals and souvenir T-shirts. The surrounding streets are crammed with traditional tavernas and restaurants, many with Acropolis views.
